Etobicoke golf tournament tees up outstanding numbers! Image
At a sold out event on September 18, 144 golfers gathered at Lambton Golf and Country Club for the 21st annual Osler Open: Etobicoke Invitational. The successful event raised $230,000 for Etobicoke General Hospital. Donations were matched by Orlando Corporation’s historic $15M Matching Challenge, meaning that the tournament raised close to $500,000 in support of Etobicoke General ($460,000). This is the most raised in the golf tournament’s 21-year history!

Funds will go toward the redevelopment and equipment needs of a new four-storey wing currently under construction at the hospital. The new wing will support the delivery of best-in-class emergency care and expand programs that serve the community’s most urgent health care needs.

“This isn’t just a golf tournament – it is a group of committed individuals and companies that have come together to support health care in their community,” said Ken Mayhew, President & CEO, William Osler Health System Foundation. “The day was incredible and our volunteers, sponsors and players really stepped up to make this our most successful Osler Open: Etobicoke Invitational ever. The funds raised are critical to providing the best care possible for Etobicoke.”

In addition to the funds raised at the golf tournament, individuals pledged their support to equip rooms in the new wing at Etobicoke General.

Golfers also heard from Dr. Joshua Mamelak, Physician, Diagnostic Imaging, Etobicoke General Hospital, about his innovative work with the hospital’s MRI machine to screen for prostate cancer.
