Back in 2003, I was one of those SARS patients you no doubt heard about. I had contracted this terrible disease while visiting a family member at another hospital.

Soon after being diagnosed, I was transferred to Etobicoke General Hospital. There were times when I didn’t know if I would survive.

While I was never able to see the faces of those who looked after me, I shall always remember their eyes through the protective shields and masks. They were so caring. I can not express how much it means to me to know that they were willing to risk their health and lives for me. The care givers at Etobicoke General gave me the confidence that I was in good hands and would recover.
