RBC steps ups & steps out for community health care
Summer 2008 , Brampton, Ontario- On June 12th at Brampton Civic Hospital an assembly of approximately 40 dignitaries and invited guests gathered in a unit reception area for the unveiling of signage for an area now known as RBC Child & Adolescent Mental Health Services.
The bold letters with RBC in white and the program name in black provide patients, staff and guests with a stylish look and clean functionality. But, as it is with every inch of the 1.3 million square foot hospital, contemporary designs and spaces replete with modern equipment must always be offset with compassion and good care. Something, as Osler’s corporate Chief of Psychiatry Dr. David Koczerginski stated at the event, that all Osler physicians, nurses and staff are continually striving for.
Other speakers at RBC’s recognition event included Brampton Mayor Susan Fennell and RBC’s Regional President for the Greater Toronto Region, Jennifer Tory. As if celebrating the one million dollar gift that had brought people from Brampton Civic Hospital together with RBC representatives were not enough, Harriet Thornhill, RBC Regional Vice President, Brampton, presented the Foundation with new funds totaling $12,000!
Bookmark campaign - This $12,000 donation is the proceeds of a fundraising initiative based on bookmark sales that raised awareness in the Brampton community about child and adolescent mental health and the difference that Brampton Civic Hospital is making for young people in our community.
RBC developed a sister bookmark program for branches in Etobicoke as well. Sales took place during the week of June 9 and the funds raised in that community will support Emergency Paediatrics at Etobicoke General Hospital.
Anne Randell, President & CEO, William Osler Health Centre Foundation commented on RBC’s continued support for our hospitals, “We definitely rely on the banking sector to help out with fundraising, but I am delighted at the initiative and good spirit that RBC puts into going above and beyond the call for action.”
Those words refer not only to the RBC’s Senior Management, but right through to the people who serve our communities in the local branches. To all local RBC employees from Brampton to Etobicoke, a loud THANK YOU must be given from everyone who relies on our hospital for care, especially our children.
RBC-Osler bookmarks are still available.
